Omaggio Lelle Luzzati

Maria Gabriella Zen (1957) is a Venetian composer.

Her works have been performed by Arditti String Quartet, Ex Novo Ensemble, Tetraktis Percussioni, Paul Klee String Quartet, by I Virtuosi della Fenice (Septet of the First Parts of La Fenice Opera House in Venice), by the Orchestra I Pomeriggi Musicali at the Dal Verme Theatre in Milan, by various instrumental groups and soloists (Annunziata Dellisanti, Gisella Curtolo, Daniele Benori, Stefano Sciascia among others). Present at prestigious festivals (11th Literature Festival Mantua 2007, 38th and 40th Festival Internazionale del Teatro della Biennale di Venezia, 54th Biennale Musica di Venezia 2010, Music and Poetry of Europe 2011, The Spirit of Venetian Music 2013 and 2014, 47th International ESTA Conference 2019 in Cremona).

From her debut she has also worked with important directors and Italian theatre companies (Teatro a l'Avogaria, Gruppo della Rocca, Carlo Cecchi, Bepi Morassi, Damiano Michieletto, Stefano Pagin) composing incidental music for theatrical plays.

Her longstanding association with the Italian director Gianfranco de Bosio dates from 1988 (Orione Radio3 Prize for the incidental music for the Baruffe Chiozzotte by Carlo Goldoni). In 2012 they won the 8th edition of the Premio Giacomo Matteotti della Presidenza del Consiglio dei Ministri for the libretto of their opera Chronos parádoksos.

She writes production music for Flippermusic and DENEB.  The videoartists Ila Beka e Louise Lemoine used her music in Spiriti (2015), 15 videos you can share on Fondazione Prada website.
